Do Not Surrender Your Grief

Updated: Dec 30, 2019

Do not surrender your grief so quickly,

let it pierce the soul

Let it wail and crack open wide the disbelief

allowing its searing tears to stain your face

Something is missing in my heart tonight,

it has made my eyes soft with sorrow

while my angry voice turns into a whispered prayer

and my need of absolution so clear

Find courage to hold the unbearable pain

the suffering that goes unheard

Let it take you deeper, lean into it

and let this sadness do it’s mighty work

The heart splits wide, overwhelmed in grief

and something is seeking to emerge

It’s for you, not against you,

allow it, make it welcome

And receive the gift that is wanting to be known.
